Have you ever thought about connecting your PC to your HDTV? With the
DIYGadget's VGA to Component transcoder, this can be done!
The transcoder can convert 480p, 540p, 720p and 1080i signals from
your computer to your HDTV. It also contains a VGA passthrough port,
thus a separate monitor can be attached to the transcoder.
If your computer's VGA port does output a component video (Y-Pb-Pr) type signal,
you don't need this transcoder, a simple VGA to Component cable can do the work.
However, most VGA card only support an RGBHV (Red, Green, Blue, Horizontal Sync,
Vertical Sync) type signal. If your VGA card only support RGBHV signal, you need
a transcoder.
Please note, you may also need PowerStrip
to set the correct horizontal and vertical frequencies of your VGA output. Setting
incorrect frequencies can damage you HDTV. Please read this excellent
guide on correct frequencies
using PowerStrip.
This is a complete kit for you to built a VGA (RGBHV) to component (YPbPr) transcoder.
It is the solution for customers who want to connect VGA-type RGBHV video sources
to HDTV monitors with YPbPr component video inputs. With compatible sources and
monitors, it permits HDTV images generated by a personal computer to be displayed
on an HDTV monitor that is capable of displaying the image format being produced
by the source.
This transcoder supports 480p, 540p, 720p and 1080i. It also has a VGA passthrough port
thus you can connect another monitor to the transcoder.
Please note: All components (IC Chips, resistors, capacitors) are surface mount components (0805),
you must be confident to work with them. They are SMALL! Soldering experience is required!
Box/enclosure is NOT included.
This kit includes:
Printed Circuit Board (7.0cm X 9.8cm / 2.75" X 3.86")
VGA HD15 connectors
AC 9V power supply
High bandwidth video amplifiers
All necessary resistors, capacitors and components for you to complete this project
Instructions will be mailed to you along with the kit
